Could someone please post the specs for the 73.5 CIS WUR(cold & warm pressure + resitance of coil)? I have done an extensive search on here but have not seen it mentioned. Also a diagram of where to insert the pressure gauges would be great.
Thanks |

Try the CIS Primer in my sig line. Look under "Testing" in the menu, follow the link for Fuel Pressure.

Thanks Jim. I am very thankful for your page, I've been there many times. But, unless I just haven't found it, I don't see the specs for the WUR. Specifically the resistance values hot & cold. Currently I am unable to get any kind of a resistance reading across the two poles on my WUR. I suspect that because of that it may be dead.

Found my problem. This is why I was not getting any resistance reading. Anybody have a wiring diagram for this or know what might have caused this?

Those are not the inner workings of a stock 73.5 WUR. What's the number stamped in the case on this one, and maybe a photo of it?

0438 140 072. This was on the engine when i got it. Is it that more different than the 73.5? What is the harm in using it?

The later WUR you have is probably doing no harm, assuming it was modified (fuel line connections) and adjusted to fit the pressure specs for the 73.5. Many cars are operating with different than factory WUR's. The problem you found with the heating element is the most common fault and the most difficult to fix if the element is bad, but it can be done or parts from another WUR can be used. I know there have been some threads posted about the resistance of these elements and that they can vary, which will affect the speed at which the bar will bend and lean the mixture--that is something that is geared to the model year engine. In short, you can use a different WUR than the factory. Whether or not the one you have is the best alternative is arguable. You can still use the pressure/temp tables posted on Jim's site once you get the WUR heating element fixed or replaced. edit: This site recommends the 0438 140 129 as a replacement. http://www.specialtauto.com/warm-up-regulators.html

Thanks for the input LJ. I have rewired the unit and am getting a resitance reading of 12 ohms. I'll put it back on the engine and check my pressure readings.
