Heater backdate on a 3.2 L

There is a discussion here somewhere about back dating the heating system on a 3.2 engine to get rid of the big heater fan and the associated tubing on top of the engine.

This is strictly a cosmetic up or backdate, but one that certainly cleans up the topside of the engine.

I liked the idea, and want to do that or something similar,

but I cannot find the thread or discussion. Anyone know where it is?

I think this is the thread you seek:

I'd like to do this as well for cosmetic reasons but there would be some loss of heat output without the blower at idle. Living in the far north, this could be an issue in spring and fall.

There's a thread somewhere. I think someone figured how to make the cockpit and footwell blowers work for defrosting.

Venetian - the backdate can be a little chilly prior to the engine warming up - but I have not found the lack of blower to be a problem this winter - and VA is getting frosty 20 - 30 degree driving days...sort of feel like I have moved north

I have done all of this and even jumped the Reed switch (bought a used one for $25) so the footwell blowers work without the engine blower:
