Back up Lights inoperative

Back up lights are inoperative, pulled bulbs and they appear good. This is a'86 930.

Questions: With the engine, off ,but the ignition on and in reversve gear, should the backup lights be on ? Also, how easy is it to determine if the backup light switch is operative or inoperative ?

Check to see that there is power going to the light - use a multimeter or test light. Also check for continuity along the line from the switch on the Transmission to the lights.

Ensure your light as well grounded.

If these are all good I would assume it is the switch but don't know how to bench test the switch.
