1971 911S Help finding previos owner/history
As the heading says, I would like to find the history of this car. I bought it from Robert merle Smith, Virginia. Problem is he do not know any of the cars history. I bought it in the late outumn of 2007. It was as pictured when I bought it, now its in the final stages of resto back to the original Albert Blue.
A couple of special things about the car: VIN 9111300584 Approx 87,000 miles Original Sports seats recovered in black cord Large holes drilled in the light buckets, probaly for cooling during racing? Red racing harness/seat belts Had weber carbs instead of the original MFI(now converted back to MFI) SSI heat exchangers RS front spoiler Alu rear deck lid(original) I would be very grateful if anyone knows anything about this car. best regards John Landsverk Norwayhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1267814126.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1267814142.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1267814175.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1267814190.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1267814320.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1267814331.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1267814343.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1267814356.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1267814366.jpg |
Recent history;
the car caught fire during shipping. he shipping company sent me a short email stating "engine fire in Bremerhaven". I thought the car was a right off, but finally I got it to Norway and luckily the fire was contained to the exhaust system. Might have been caused by fuel leaking from the carbs, trough the cylinders and into the exhaust system, igniting when the dock workers moved the car from one ship to the next for the final leg from Bremerhaven to Norway. These pictures are from the resto. Can't help with your enquiry, but want to tell you that your Albert blue is beautiful, an especially because it is non-metallic - wish I could do my Carrera in that colour.

John your VIN was according to what I have a Euro car. It was delivered in Europe so maybe you should contact Porsche with your ownership papers and start here.
|
Twist; how did you conclude that its a Euro car? It had all the US emissions equipment, headlights, gauges in miles etc. Maybe someone could post some of the pictures at their local Porsche Clubs, and maybe luck with make someone recognice it ;-)

Best and thanks John |
Just got a tip at the 911Sreg forum, that "UW=Washington" might be University Porsche in Seattle, now University Audi. I have send them an email.
