Have a dumb question on seats??
Have a 1980 SC Targa, except for the position of the reclining lever, are the passenger and driver's seats interchangeable, on a temporary basis????? Want to have the seats redone one at a time and still be able to drive the car, thus passenger seat to the driver's side while the driver's seat is being redone. Thanks. Bruce |

The answer to that question lies in whether or not the track assembly mounted under the other seat will fit the bolt pattern on the driver side, usually they are the same except for the position of the release mechanism.
You are far better off getting both seats done at once rather than one at a time so the shop has an example if it forgets what it is doing. Besides a clever upholster can swap the lower cushion from the driver side with the passenger side with some mild foam modifications to accommodate the seat back mechanism. Furthermore, you will want the material to be installed at the same time so the ripples settle out on the upper bolsters. If you are handy, buy yourself a set of straight and angled hog ring pliers, some extra foam and give it a go yourself, it is not magic, just tedious. Buy the covers from the host or look at World Upholstery |

Yep, non-power seats are simple to swap from side to side. Power can be done but the controls are put in an awkward position after swapping.
I do agree with the poster above on having both seats done at the same time, though.
