3.0 w/webers vs. 2.7RS
Here's my dilemma.
I 'm trying to decide on a motor for 72' Roadster project. In a perfect world I would build a 3.0 RS motor but the cost of the custom throttle bodies and stacks coupled on top of the cost for new pistons, recal of the MFI pump and more aggresive cams scares me off. So here's my choices. (1) 2.7 RS. (I take a 2.7S motor, add a "S" MFI setup, recal the pump, change the pistons and add S cams.) (2) 3.0 w/ Webers. (I take a 78'/79' 3.0L, add Weber 40 IDA's, change the pistons, and cams.) (3) 3.2 w/ Webers. I have a 72'T coupe w/E MFI and I love the throttle response. I've never been a big fan of carbs and this car is for the street. So which motor do you think would be the most fun to drive? I'm kinda leaning toward the 2.7RS. Thanks Bobby |

It's a carb eat carb fuel world. Street power = big torque = big c.i.d. I have a 40 IDS for sale. Great for 2.7 and 3.0. MFI better than carbs, when they are properly set up and maintained IMHO

For the street, Mines a 72, 2.7rs with e cams. Not as fast HP wise as the S but great for the street. Super snappy throttle response-very drivable. Pump was recalibrated for this setup.
I would go with the 3.2 if i had a chance

I've already got a set of 40IDA's with intake mani's,linkage and air filter housing that I was going to use on a 3.0 but I'll ditch this stuff pending a decision to go with the RS motor. I must admit I do like the sound of my 2.4E when it comes on the cams at 4500RPM. The only downside of that is people think your trying to race them and they get all huffy. Not to mention your already at the next light and it's time to brake.
