Clutch - All or Nothing?
I am starting on a transmission project - and so will have my engine out.
This is also the time to check out the clutch - and I am trying to get a budget together. Is the Clutch an all or nothing situation (e.g. $1000 in parts) or will I be able to inspect and decide which parts to replace?

Check the flywheel for scoring and heat scarring. IMO< you don;t need to replace if it's in good shape. Post a pic and we can give an opinion at that time.
If you have over 50,000 miles on the clutch I would replace it. Yes, it should last more than 50,000 but unless you know when it was done it's good insurance. If it's the original replace it regardless of mileage.

up to you if you don't mind doing it again, the main issue is whether it will chatter. lots of people just replace the disc and get away with it, as long as the flywheel and p plate surfaces are smooth and the t/o bearing spins quietly, chances are good. personally, i would rather not.

After the last two I did had a little chatter, I now replace all of the parts with new ones, including the flywheels.
