Anyone know this car
Hi
I bought my car from the US a couple of years ago and am now just trying to fill in its history. ![]() It is a 1971 E, blue plate car with the reg. 071EUL Was originally green, so has had a respray, and looks like it has had some work done to it both inside and under the hood. Any information would be very helpful. thanks Stuart. |

Carfax does not go back farther than the mid-80's.

If I recall correctly, CARFAX does not have records for cars as old as yours. Your best chance is to post as many pictures of the car as possible--from all angles--showing specifically your areas of concern. Include pictures of the engine as well. People here may recognize the car and offer some background, or they can help determine if there has been repair or other problems.
You may wish to post the VIN and the engine serial and type numbers as these will help determine any changes from factory. From just the one picture, the car has 73 rear bumperettes and what looks to be 8"Fuchs rims on the back. More pictures will certainly help reveal the information you want. So now, welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your "new" car and you have followed the cardinal rule of posting a picture! We love pictures! In your case, it will certainly help you in your quest for background.

Carfax requires a 17 digit VIN, which started in 1981.
I'd suggest starting with the license plate. You can usually look up the ownership information for a given license plate number through an individual state's vehicle records. Usually there is a form you have to fill out and a nominal fee. JR |

Hi
Thanks for the replies, I am not so much concerned with the history of the car, more about what the last owners have done to the car. As I am new to Porsches this will help me focus on jobs still to do rather than tasks that had already been completed. I was hopeing that as the car has had an amount of work done already that it would have been on Pelican already. More pictures ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Came from the San Fransisco area, repsray, re-upholstered seats, bigger wheels, SSI, S bumper and trim. Anybody spot anything else? Thanks Stuart. |
