Power window and regulator allignment

Something broke last winter so I bought an all new motor, power window regulator and switch, for my drivers side on my '86 Coupe and had my regular mechanic do it because it looked like a PIA with no garage in the cold. Replace deverything because it sucked not having a window.

All fixed, I am driving down the road, hit the switch, huge bang sound and window dnf and falls into door. Too cold to do anything so it gets taped up until today.

I open the door and find the window track with wheels on it rubber gasket in it and laying in the bottom of the door. The regulator goes up and down just fine. I manage to get the track back in the regulator and the window back in the track and rubber gasket. I test the window and lowering it about 2" the track pulls away from the window and the regulator makes the same bang as the rivet that holds the wheel passes the other scissor and catches on it.

It seems as if with the window out of it's track the scissor part of the regulator is over an inch closer to the inside of the door than the window in it's correct track so the regulator has to be pushed into the door to receive the window. Is that correct? It seems way misalligned.

If I lower it slowly, sort of tapping the switch, it doesn't pull from the window but lowering it in one motion it does pull from the window. WTF? Any help out there.

On my way home yesterday, I lowered my window and it made a "bang" noise just about as I stopped more than half open. I blipped the switch up and it raised. I didn't want to move the window anymore for fear of creating more damage, because something that goes "bang" does get better by itself. Do you think I can roll my window up without further incident? I'd like to roll it up and leave it that way until I get around to fixing it. The car lives in my garage so security isn't an issue.
