It was dark and there was nowhere to go, hit the damn thing going 50mph, and drug it about 200 yards. It smashed the gas tank in pretty good and put a small dent in the side of the fuel pump, which wines pretty loud now. I was wondering if it could be taken apart and fixed, it doesn't really look like it but I know you can buy rebuilt ones, this is why I ask. Thanks for any ideas!

Sorry to hear of you cinderblock incident
Assuming you have a stock FP, I don't recommend opening it up. I believe that it has been mfr to be very difficult to open. The other thing is that gas flows thru the pump (kind of strange, having gas going the around the armature and other parts of an electrical motor). I would not want it to leak. I sure Pelican can sell you a new one. Last edited by Jim Smolka; 11-27-2001 at 02:10 AM.. |

Thanks Jim, that's prabably a good idea not to have a suspect fuel pump like that (not real safe!)

If you have auto insurance, they should pay for the repairs.
I don't know what your policy is like, but it may be covered under the comprehensive section instead of collision. You wouldn't necessarily get an increase in your insurance premiums.
