Sunroof wind deflector install help

Hi All,

My car was always missing the sunroof wind deflector so I just installed it.

Problem is, it jams the sunroof. If the roof is closed and i try to open it, as soon as the roof passes the deflector, it pops up and jams the roof before it is far enough back to clear the parts that are spring loaded. Also if i try to close the roof once open, the deflector doesn't get pushed low enough for the roof the clear it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Adam

I'm familiar with the later sunroofs only in theory. It seems you may have a part missing because something on the roof should be depressing the spring as it moves over it and hold it down as it moves back. I looked at the PET diagram but I couldn't see anything but, again, I don't know what to look for. I do know the earlier cars had plastic clips or lift pieces that attached to the inside leading edge of the roof that pushed down the wind deflector, but that was set up differently. Do you have plastic lift pieces? See the link below for a picture:

Don't know if that's your problem but I'm sure someone who has dealt with this issue will help out.

Had the same issue a few yrs ago, schematic below. I thinks its #49? I got one used for my '88 and they are plastic.

Here's a thread showing the white plastic piece that clips to the underside of the sun roof:
