1986 911 Radio Install Question
I am helping a friend install a Becker CDR220 in his 1986 Targa 911. Any special instructuions with this upgrade?
Thanks in advance! |
The only one I can think of is to put 12v DC power to the black wire coming out of the antenna wire that plugs into the new head unit. That small black wire feeds power to the antenna booster. Without it, you will get terrible reception. I too have an '86 911 and forgot to do that. It made a big difference.
Good luck. ~Steve |
None that I would know of, but maybe just an idea.
I ran the speaker wires thru a terminal strip in the trunk - made it easier to wire in the (trunk installed) amp later w/o having to get behind the radio again. |
There may be a wiring harness available that is designed for this installation. Try SW Stereo and places like that.

Try also sonicelectronix.com for the harness.
