Koni front shock - bilstein compatibility
I have Koni shocks on my new to me 1974 - they are the adjustable kind. Can I change out the insert to a bilstein insert? is there compatibility?

nope.
(Disclaimer, this is just what I read here: a bushel of internet knowledge is worth about one ounce of personal experience) For the fronts: Koni for Koni only. Bilstein and Boge are interchangeable. If you really want Bilstein in the front, you need to trade out the entire front strut assembly and spindle. Richard |

What type of struts do you have? It's the strut that is important, not the insert.
Black - boge red - koni

They are red -
![]() I have the same torsion bars as my cabriolet had - 22mm This car does not have your elephant racing poly bronze a-arm bearings like the cabriolet (but it does have replacement poly graphite) The only difference is the weight of the two - cab was probably #400 lbs heavier AND the cab had bilstein front (HD) this (1974 Wide Body SC/Carrera Suspension) car - with the Koni adjustable is VERY bouncy over even small imperfections. Even with the koni adjusted all the way down. Got any other suggestions?
