Powerslot front rotors....

....on an '87 Carrera.

Anyone have experience with these?

Pros, cons on rotor choices?

I've got them on my 86. Had them now for 3 years. Great product in my opinion.

I had them on an old car, not the 911. They were great as far as helping reduce fade and not warping, but after about 25k miles I could feel the slots in the pedal. It felt like I had a vibrator attached to the pedal whenever I would apply brakes. The only fix I could come up with was to grind down the edges of the slots with a dremmel. They only lasted about another 10k miles after that and I replaced them with plain rotors.

Just installed some Powerslot Cryo (frozen) rotors on my 85 Carrera but don't have many miles on them yet so I can't say if they're good or bad. Have many friends that swear the life of these is three times greater than standard rotors.

FYI Tire Rack has the fronts for only $90 each. Thought it was a misprint (they're usually twice that price for frozen rotors) but after checking with them, it's true.

If you decide to go that route you may want to check them out.

I suspect that these rotors are just fine, however, stock rotors are also just fine and cheaper. I race with stock zimmermans and am very happy with them.

Powerslots aren't the same Powerslots they used to be. They used to be OEM blanks that were slotted and zinc plated. So you were getting Zimmerman rotors with slots and nice plating.

Now I believe they're made by Centric. So you're getting Centric blanks that are slotted and beautified. Not saying they're necessarily bad, just pointing out the difference.

And some have experienced added longevity with cryoed rotors. Jury is sort of still out on that, depending on who you ask. However a big part of rotor longevity is pad choice. Use Hawk Blues and just about any rotor will be worn down by those bad boys. :p
