Anybody know this SC/RSR from GT Racing catalog?

Can anyone shed any light on this vehicle for me? Are those Lindsay rims on it? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!

anyone?

Yes those appear to be Lindseys...you can tell by the vertical part that attaches the center to the rim. I have Tru Designs on mine that have an angled attachment piece. I like the Tru Design look better myself....they are also cheaper to have made.

It's got a Colorado plate on it. Maybe it's Hank's own car...

Working on getting details from the seller (auction house), but they will not tell my brother who the seller is.... We need as much background history as possible before placing a bid on it.

I have been calling GT Racing many times for the last few days and all I get is a voice mail. Wish we could just know the story behind this car before it goes up for auction next week...

You must call in the morning. He's a very small operation and after lunch he stops answering the phone and focuses on getting shipments shipped.

Remember the old Heinz ketchup slogan, "The best things come to those who wait."

Hank has never let me down.

Every message I've left for him has been returned within a reasonable amount of time.

Patience is a virtue in these modern times...something I often preach but rarely practice.

Gus Berges 03-18-2010 03:33 AM

To be fair, I do not leave voice mails as I think its unfair for him to call me back (overseas, expensive to do so) when I know he will not get a sale of his products. Since its me who needs something, I figured I am the one who needs to do all possible to get this information. I'd feel bad if he was to call me in Panama just to potentially talk about a car that may no longer belong to him.

Just got this from the auction house:
"
The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner, they have the receipts and photos for:

Engine rebuild:

New piston & cylinders set
New flywheel
New 6 intake valves
New 6 Exhaust valves
New 12 rockers
New 2 timing chains
New 24 Dilivar studs
New 12 rocker bolts
New rod bearings
New 6 chain ramps
New top gasket
New distributor
New clutch disk
New Carrera chain tensioners

Also, since the current owners live in Colorado, the fuel management system is adjusted for their altitude of 6,200 ft. The new owner will have to adjust the system for their altitude."

Car sold at acution last year for $24,000, now for sale again at a bit more than twice the selling price!: Porsche : 911 - eBay (item 150570573095 end time Mar-07-11 14:09:01 PST)

Matt Monson 03-04-2011 10:03 AM

I love that it's still got the Storz Garage stickers on it. :) I've got one of those on my car.

I went to the auction in Ft. Lauderdale a year ago this month, actually, to specifically look at this car to perhaps purchase it... It looked nice at first glance, but the interior was shot and needed an entire re-do as it was obvious that during the "rebuild", a few corners were cut. The shifter was incredibly wobbly, some of the trim was worn and discolored, etc... Also, the wheels arches did not align asymmetrically with the wheels, and from behind, it was rather noticeable that one side was more than 1 inch higher than the other. I was disappointed because these don't come up for sale often, but glad I passed on it and eventually got my 965... As to it being listed on eBay, who knows why they could ask more than double the purchase price, and with the interior still looking the same. I remember the car required so much work to put it right, that I don't think I would've even paid $15K for it...

Since the car is from Colorado, could it be possible the wheels are TruDesign/TDW wheels like surflvr911sc's car has?

Here's TruDesign's contact info

True Design Wheel; Specialty Wheels

I recall the people who have dealt with Jim Lyon have nice things to say about him

I don't like this car

Gus Berges 03-04-2011 05:54 PM

For the record, I am NOT interested in this car (much less knowing the sale price last year and what it's being advertised for now). When I originally posted about this car, it was on behalf of my brother who was considering it. He has wisely passed on this car and got a much nicer car (IMHO).
