Lame question on valve covers

I just adjusted all the valves on an 84 3.2 and have one that sounds a bit loose on the right exhaust side. Is it the best advice to empty all the oil before pulling off the exhaust valve covers?

You can just jack up that side of the car so that only a little oil runs out.

No need to empty the oil again. As suggested just jack up that side and use axle stands to hold it.

Don't get under there with just a jack holding it up.

Have some towels and a drain pan ready to catch any oil that drips out.
