roh wheels
I have an 85 carrera that came with roh wheels.
I still use them on the street- I actually like the look of a more modern 5spoke wheel on the older carreras. I use fuchs on the track- don't know why but I don't trust the roh at stress and speed. I did use them in one autoX- HEAVY The only problem I have had with them in 2 years of street use is the finish is not the greatest- they are porous and are picking up stains that are not coming completly out even with polish. Gary,
What makes you feel you can't trust the ROH wheels on the track ? I have a friend that had his ROH wheels break apart on the track ! That is why I am asking about the wheels to see if anybody else had seen this. His wheels developed small stress cracks noticable on the inner spokes near the hub. |

Mine was just a gut feeling, and the recommendation of a good friend/mechanic. I have not seen this brand at the track, nor have I ever heard of a failure. I have also never seen a car roll, but I have a rollbar. I have never seen a fire, but I have an extinguisher, etc. I just looked at the wheels, their design, and didn't trust them at high speed. Maybe I shouldn't even trust tme on the road- I'll have to have a look at the hubs again looking for cracks.
I asked about roh wheels 12-18 months ago here, and didn't get any replies, so I don't think they are popular. BTW, fuchs wheels 7&8X16 are readily available-heck I have 5 sets right now. Gary |
