Flywheel question

Has anyone experienced this flywheel? Its 5 lbs lighter sure but how would it increase my horsepower? How would it stand against the flywheel from our host?
Thanks in advance!

I have a Fidanza in my 930 Turbo, works fine. There is a thread in the Turbo section that's about lightweight flywheels, almost everyone likes them...

I would like to hear about flywheel options also as mine is missing some teeth and I have been wondering about aftermarket options.

Flywheels

A light flywheel may help down shifts but it won't give any more horsepower.

That's not the goal.

1st:It allows to rev-up quicker because of the smaller amount of rotating mass.

2nd: Throttle response increases.

But there is a downside on everything: Less stable idle and need for more sensitive clutch foot

I think a lighter flywheel would allow the engine to rev up quicker while not in gear... once engaged with the transmission and all the other frictional and weight things, I think the acceleration benefits are minimal. But thats just what my instincts tell me. However, I think a light flywheel would help with downshifts when you need to heel-toe as you can get the revs where you need them before engaging.

with all that said, lighter is faster so I guess every pound helps

Looking only at the static weight compared to the whole drive-train it seems not to be that much (a few kg), but keep in mind, the mass is rotating and the weight is nowhere further (except wheels) from center of rotation, so the higher the rev, the bigger the weight. To increase this effect, it makes sense to fit an lightweight pressure plate too, what I would do first.

If you ever drove a Motorcycle with different clutches, even chain, you will feel a huge difference, analog to lighter pistons
