Door Hinges

Has anyone had to replace the middle hinge on the doors ? (I think this acts as a stopper for no letting the door open too wide).

For whatever reason one side is missing on my car.

Jim that is a door stopper NOt a middle hinge. If it is missing it could be because it was "ripped out". Sometimes over years or hard use they wear themselves out of the door. You can buy a kit to fix it as well as a new stopper. I imagine pelican has these, or someone may have a spare one to sell?

Also, don't forget that the door stop mechanism also prevents you from tearing up the fronts of your doors when fully open. Definitely install missing door stops.

Jim:

You need to tend to this ASAP. This can be a very expensive fix as it can require new door sheet metal. You may already be at that point in fact.

I am putting "beauty" fixes on hold while I take care of this exact thing on a '78SC. I have no indications that there are any problems but I am putting in the strengthening kit as soon as possible.

Funny you should say that...

Indeed, my driver door will require repair (possibly a new skin).

Man, this is an expensive hobby !!!
