Trailing Arm Attachment Bolt
 

Thanks to everyone who helped me get this far with my Torsion Bar and bushing replacement but.....The bolt and nut assembly that keeps the trailing arm attached to the body is tricky. It seems the nut is too close to my G-50, can't get a socket on it and the head of the bolt is at a wierd angle...can't get a 1/2 drive socket on it. Any tricks? What size sockets or wrenches do I need or just a bigger hacksaw?

You don't need to remove the trailing arm!

You only need to remove the spring plate. Check the tech article I did on this subject.

I am changine the bushing where the trailing arm meets the chassis.....I just can't figure out what tools I need....very tight.

That bolt is in a spot that is tighter than a crabs ass and thats water tight. I did it with simple hand tools in my '77. Can't remember exactly which wrench. Had to try different ones. It may have been those 1/2 circle types. It helps to be a double jointed midget. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/munky2.gif

Just did it on my 72 but, on my year you have to drop engine and tranny. Yours you don't ,I don't think. The bolt on my year is a 22mm. I had to use an open end wrench and, i also needed 2. If it's the same bolt and nut, go to sears and get the long open end wrenches so you can get some leverage. Rachet did not work for me. What kind of bushings are you installing?
