What to do with my new Sports Purpose-ish seats

I just picked up these older (I am assuming '80s but don't really know) Sheel-Mann seats for a good deal that are in pretty nice shape other than the foam has deteriorated quite a bit.

My thinking is that I should probably pull the covers off and replace most/all the foam with some high density stuff that I have custom cut to fit me and then put the covers back on. I am wondering though if while I have the covers off if it wouldn't be a bad idea to reinforce the seat a little more with some more glass in a few places using much stronger and stiffer epoxy resin. Heck if I wanted to go crazy, I could do a Carbon Fiber layer on the back side of the shell and then cut and glue the cover in such a way that it left the bare Carbon on the back side.

I don't know much about these seats other than they appear to be of reasonably good quality and condition and should be a marked improvement over the stock seats in my '75 for Autocross and DEs. I am open to suggestions upon how they should be restored/modified though.

They look very cool.
If you are to do any semi-serious driving, I would do a thorough strengthening. a full recover in carbon would be an excellent idea. I am not sure about leaving the carbon weave visible, as it is a contradiction to the seats' vintage.
