911 IROC front end
MY recently purchased 1980 SC came with a fiberglass bumper/valence on it. I was not really wild about it, and plan to change it back to stock.
Today, I was thumbing through some old issues of Panorama, and saw a picture of a restored 1974 IROC Carrera with the identical front end! Is this the RS bumper, or is it exclusive to the IROC? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks. BTW, if anyone wants to trade straight across for a complete stock front end, lemme know :-) |

The RS front bumper/spoilers came from the long hood bodies (up to '73). Here is a '74 RSR IROC Porsche. This bumper should fit on a '74-89 body.

The 1974 3.0 RS uses a wide-arch body, does your SC have Turbo style flares?
The IROC RSR pictured in the other post uses even wider flares, although I beleive the front bumper is the same. The rear bumper is definitely wider. |

Have a look at http://www.johnstarkeycars.com/Images/Feature_Car/PorscheCarrera911/Carrera911.html
You can clearly see that the RSR has wider rear flares than the RS, both have wider front flares than a standard SC |

upon further inspection, you guys are right as usual. My front fender flares are stock, so the front end on my car is an IROC "style" front end. It has the same front opening for the cooler, and the same brake duct holes, but the molds must have been changed so that it fits a stock fendered 911.
Thanks. |
