Removing the Dash Pad from a early 911

I may decide to remove the dash from my 1970 911.

Is there a thread showing how to find, remove all the nuts, and with what special tool -- if any? Can someone post a picture of the underside of a dash pad and mark where all the mounting points are located.
Thanks in advance.
Vr,

I've removed a couple of dash pads. 1/4 drive rachet, 10mm socket and swivel will make it easier. Several of the nuts are a blind and feel episodes. Knowing where they are helps alot. Waynes book has good pic of their locations. It's nice that the gauges are easy removal items helping ease the process. The other nuts are accessible from the front trunk area. I don't have any dashes out at the moment to supply you with a pic, but I can help you thru emails if you like. You will need lots of patience, but if you take your time, you'll get it.

Thanks! When I start to tackle that project - I will email you for sure.

+1 on requiring patience. I've only done it a couple of times but it tried my patience in both instances.

Did anyone mention that the windshield must be removed on the early cars in order to remove the dash pad?

And don't get me started about that one nut holding on the left knee pad...

Just a suggestion but perhaps you need to define early cars as the SWB cars dash does comes out without windshield removal.

Some tips for a nice install . Make sure that all the connectors for what you are replacing it with are well attached ,don't over tighten, don't pull the new skin to tight in the front when you reinstall (if its new) or you will end up with waves against the glass.

I am debating now -- either start the dash pad removal or have a double hernia operation..... I picked the hernia operation!
Off to the OR this Thursday, short recovery and then the dash pad ;)
