911 mirrors on 914

I just installed 911 flag mirrors on my 1975 Euro 914. The driver side fit almost perfectly. When I came to install the RH mirror in the same opposite location, I realized that the mirror stand bracket was not the same as on the LH side. Later I realized tha tha 911 did not have the mirrors located at the same spot on both sides.

Does any one know if there is a RH mirror stand that is the same as the LH side? Maybe the UK version?

As with a left hand drive 911 when you install the right side mirror in the factory cut out it will not be positioned properly because the factory location is for right side drive cars. The mirror you have is fine but you need to relocate where it is mounted.

I can't relocate RH mirror now, maybe when car needs repaint. I would like to find just the lower stand bracket similar to the LH mirror.

Why? It looks like he can see out of both mirrors just fine as it is. The base doesn't fit the door profile in that position.

I'm not sure about 914's but if it didn't come with a right side mirror than the factory location cut out is for a right hand drive car and the mirror will not be positioned properly. The only differnce I see in these mirrors is that the passenger side has a larger base gasket.

And as far as him being able to "see out of both mirrors just fine", how can you determine that from a close up photo from the front of the mirror?

I can see fine out of both mirrors. I made a temporary bigger gasket for the RH mirror.

I noticed that on some 911 photos, the RH mirror is not always located at the same position. Does anyone know if there are different stand bracket for the RH mirror? I would like to get rid of larger gasket.

Thanks for the feedback...

91173124202 - Right side mirror base - Right Hand Drive cars
91173128802 - Right side mirror base - Left Hand Drive cars

I can't tell you what the difference is.

more work as you have to put in a threaded reinforcement plate, but the 928 bases fit much better. They don't use the J hook to attach, they have a threaded screw

Interesting mod. I've never considered it because I've always been about the chrome on my 914s, but that looks nice. Well done.
