Question Need clarification on an SC ROW engine #

I'm looking up engine info for a friend. Here's the number he sent along:

9301061010R

I assume this is an SC ROW 939/10 204-hp engine (fitted from '81-'83), but from which year? It presently sits in an '80 ROW SC, which originally would have had a 930/09 engine (188-hp).

As far as the "61010R" bit, I assumes this means 6-cylinder, serial number 1010R--does the "R" at the end mean it's factory rebuilt? Or does the "1" after the "6" indicate a certain market or build year?

Finally, all SC ROW engines came with air pumps, right? This engine has one fitted.

Any errors?

That's not the engine number, but might be a casting number...

A typical engine number will read: 6310075
Translation:
6 = 6 cyl engine
3 = 911SC RoW
1 = 1981
0075 = consecutive build number

Yep, that is a casting number. You need to look just to the right of the fan support to find a pair of numbrs, one on the upright, one on the flat

Yeah, I know where to look ... had to instruct my buddy to look in the right place and get back to me.

Anyway, turns out he has a '79 ROW SC chassis and engine, the latter of which may have been rebuilt using a later crankcase (based on the 930/10 "R" casting number.
