Instrument Rings refit?
I removed the rings that secure the glass of the guages in order to clean the glass and repaint the rings. I gently pried the edges up half way round until I was able to pop them off. I'm just about to repaint the rings, but thought I should consider how I shall refit them before painting. I'm assuming a factory tool is generally used, which I don't have. Has anyone ever succesfully attempted this and do you have any words of advice before I continue?
Thanks in advance Adam

I use a plastic roller for setting screen door/window screen. I paint the rings off the gauge. Sometimes the paint will chip slightly at the crimp but you will never see it next to the rubber gasket.

Thanks for the reply. Is the plastic roller a tool that can be bought in a hardware store?

A paper roller , usually used for sticking paper-wall.
And you'll have the appropriate tool for.
