Barn find lives!!!!

Already so many of you have help on here so I thought you guys might like how my last two weeks have been owning my first 911!!

Found a 71 911T . Typical story from what i have read on here. 47,000 original miles and been sitting for 5-7 yrs. What i liked about it is practically zero rust. I bought it from 2nd owner and he had it since 1973 so i kinda trusted most of what he said. Again my first 911....

After reading many posts on here and following you guys lead..I went after it on a basic level..get engine running just a little to justify spending money on brakes, cleaning fuel tank lines pump,,etc...

OK start...took zeniths off and "un-stuck" them..ok now i know i can at least add fuel...check...now no fire...hmmmm after lots of help from here..i put another marelli in it tonight and BOOM fire...she ran really nice for a few second and re-energized me on working and spending money on her...

NOW back to taking off carbs...Who on here can tell me WHO to send them to and have them rebuilt????? While carbs are off being done i will pull tank, replace brakes, fuel pump and detail rest of car...

Thanks guy ..been smiling all night since she came alive..if only for a few moments!!

Don't know where you're located, but you can send your carbs to any one of these. Haven't had anything to do with them in a while, but they are old established places.

I am on this side of the coast, and that was good advice by Marv. All those places do excellent work, and are well known in the Porsche community. I have personal experience with two of the three and they are great.

Good luck and enjoy your car!

Congrats on bringing another longhood back to life.

Check with Mike at JB Racing. I think they are outside Orlando. He is a frequent contributor to this board and located in your neighborhood.

While you are having the carbs rebuilt, get yourself a Bosch distributor if possible and some fresh points or pertronix....just for peace of mind.

Don't use Bieker if you want to see the car running again this year. He does amazing work, but is slow and is not terribly responsive.

OK well throw this one out there. Why not rebuild them yourself. Not really that hard to just put a kit in. You are not re-jetting. Can get a soak bucket from the local parts store for around $30.00 parts will come out beautiful.
The hard part comes after the carbs are back. You will need to have a syncrometer to set them. This will need done even if someone else rebuilds them.

Just a thought as you appear to be the get it done type.........

It's been a while since I was living in Naples/Ft Myers, but Manfred's on progressive ave in Naples did/does a lot of restoration work. I believe he did a few projects for the Collier Museum. The number I have for him is 239.643.3350. His card says "Manfred's Autmotive Specialties, Inc." Last time I was there he was finishing up a 904.....

Thanks--yes have no problem with gettin after it...but I also know the difference of knowing all the little thing that may be overlooked by someone who doesn't do it all the time....If you need a 2500hp twin turbo big block chevy then ask me tons of questions but my first 911--not so much...

I just reread this and realize they are zeniths. I'd just start calling around to places that do carb rebuilds = zeniths - they were used on everything from farm tractors to performance cars. Not sure there is anything really that special about them - other than the fact they were attached to a Porsche.
