Sticky Accelerator Pedal (Not A Toyota Issue)
Hi Gang,
I'm working out the final bugs in my 'SC motor Transplant into my 1975 Targa S. The motor is installed and runs well. When I rev the engine from the engine compartment the motor revs and then falls normally to the normal idle speed. HOWEVER, when I rev the engine using the accelerator pedal the motor revs, stays at the high rev for a moment then slowly falls to the normal idle after 4-5 seconds. I notice that when I pull the pedal up manually after revving the engine the engine acts normally (falls to idle as expected). The car had been sitting for 18 years so I suspect something may need a little grease. Any suggestions where I should focus my attention?? Thanks in advance.

Time to rebuild the pedal linkage! It happened to me and then the pedal became
disconected twice and left me stranded. |

+1
Also inspect the bell crank throttle linkage bushings located on the trans.Seems to be a common problem. Our host has replacement brass ones that will hold up better than the OEM plastic ones. Does the car have cruise?Others have reported the cable hanging up the throttle plate as well.

The original SC motor had cruise but I did not install it in the '75.
Pedal Rebuild? Seems Logical. Time to research the topic. Thanks
