re: sc cis backfire

:Dgood news was tinkering on the old sc today pulled my brand new rotor out and cut the resister out and soldered in a slug .started the car and it ran a little better so while i was messing around i thought of what one of you gentlemen asked about where my advance was. i unhooked the red hose walla the car revs no backfire no hesitation. i have driven it and it runs fine but it lacks some power now if anybody knows what i need to do please tell me and i will be forever greatful;)

It was me who asked where your advance was. So the red hose you disconnected, is that the vacccum line to the distributor? With that hose disconnected, your advance needs to be at 5degBTDC at 900rpm, and 25degATDC at 5000rpm, if I recall correctly. Please double check by doing a search in the archives.

One of those vacuum hoses is vacuum advance, and the other is vacuum retard. If there are two. A black and a red.
