Please identify this line
Can anybody please let me know what this approx. 1/4" welded male line is for? Car is an 82 SC and the braided line that was on here has disintegrated. Thanks in advance.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1268948756.jpg

I'll take a stab and guess it's the hydraulic brake line. The one on the bottom looks like a clutch cable and I don't see any others that look like a brake line. Is there any brake fluid in the car? Are the rear brake lines connected to anything?

If it had a braided cloth line on it, it should be the vacuum line for the power brakes.
|
Brake booster is the large line just below that. That should be the fuel tank vapor recovery line to the charcoal canister.

i think its the vacume source for the center option heater controls, the larger line to the left of that is the power booster line.

It's not power brakes... You can see that line curving to the left under the line in question.
I just looked on my car and there's nothing there on my 78... I'm guessing it's something to do with providing a light vacuum to the charcoal canister in the luggage compartment. (If you have one) Were does the other end go? Can you trace it back to the air box? |

My 83 has power brakes. otherwise it would feel like trying to stop a Mack Truck. I suppose if you are really going to split hairs... its vacuum boosted/assisted brakes not power... but are really going to go there?
On my 83, that line in your pic attached to the charcoal canister in the rear and was for Fuel Venting. My charcoal went away with my PMO ITB install so I have nothing on that line now. |
Thanks for the replies. It is the charcoal / vent line I believe.
