Targa top Seal / Gasket confusion
There appears to be some confusion as to what works with what relative to Targa top over the windshield Front frame seals.
1. 67-69 Targas use the very narrow over the windshield frame seal which goes with the narrow side seals. Hollow or v shaped door seals will work. More about these latter. These are presently NLA but I am getting them made. 2. 70-85 uses a over the windshield frame seal that is directly compatable with the v shaped door seal. This is the Seal I sell. 3. 86-89 style over the windshield frame seal is designed for the hollow door seal is NLA though a 70-85 seal can be substituted but then a Coupe door seal needs to be used which can be cut to length. It appears Coupes went to hollow door seal around 77. 4. The over the windshield frame seal I sell can be made to work with all Targas 70-89 though one should use the hollow coupe door seal for best results. 5. 90-94 over the windshield frame seal fit only 90- 94 Targa and are too large for earlier cars. 6. Side seals are the same from 70-94 though all are too long and need 3/16" trimmed from rear. Respond with additional questions.

Yes I am confused. I have a 79sc and am looking for the over the windshield seal. Pelican says they stock it 911-565-090-47-M260. Is this the correct seal or do you have the correct seal?
Thanks |

Dan,
Thanks for the info. Could you post a picture of the correct seal for an '86. I am getting a lot of wind noise from my top and am wondering if I have the correct one.

The seal for Carrera 3.2 (1986-89) cars is no longer produced. But the later 964 seal can be made to fit with some modifications. See Dan's (carsinc) article for details:
Proper installation of front targa seal? -Wayne
