Lsd?
What's required to upgrade an non-LSD 911 (in my case '84 911) with a 915 to LSD?

In addition to the differential itself, you will need to reset the preload and backlash on the ring gear when you install it. Not generally something I recommend as a DIY job as it requires some specialized tools and expert knowledge. Most shops will bill 4-6 hours for the job.
It's cheap insurance to get new carrier bearings at the same time. Sidecover and axle seals go without saying. And 2 oil changes worth of oil if it's a brand new LSD. There is a break-in period and you'll want to change your gearoil after 1000 miles or 1 track day, whichever comes first.

Sorry guys - but i am a novice when it comes to LSD and many of the components in my car.
I am in the process of dropping my engine to remove the transmission - as I need it rebuilt. What specifically do I need to have done if I want to upgrade to LSD? 1) Change the Differential? What's the cost? 2) Have changes made in the 915 transmission? I know you probably answered in one of the replies above - but I don't quite get it yet. Thanks for the help. jcsjcs
