911E CDI box wire problems, please help
Can someone tell me how to wire in the CDI ignition box. Bosche for a 2.2 E 1970
I have one red wire from the box. Male. but the only wire which will reach it is red and with a white stripe one (long) The long red and white one, also reaches another male connector which is red with white bands every inch. I dont want to connect the wrong one and stuff the CDI box. But I can' find any other wire which is just red. Also light are like a Christmas tree. turn the blinker on and the rear park lights flash, turn the head lights on and the indicators have a slight glow. turn the indicators on and both turn signal lights on the dash flash i have checked the wires in the rear indicator house and all appear ok. Have I got them in the wrong order? Any help would be good Thanks God knows.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269171554.jpg |
Here are some comments on the CDI wiring diagram. The basic idea is that the distributor has a single wire that goes from the points to the CDI trigger terminal. The CDI also has a +12V power input. Then the CDI has a +460V power output directly to the ignition coil. Finally, and very important is the CDI ground, this is a metal tab on the case. A way to remember is "B" for Battery, "C" for contact (the points) and "A" for ACHTUNG, don't electrocute yourself! The other coil primary terminal goes to ground of course.

Rex's diagram and advice should help. I don't know if there is a difference on my 73.5, but this may help too. The red wire from the CDI is connected to a switched power source coming from the fuse panel area. On my car, there was a plastic connector between the two wires and the wire came from the rear (CDI side) of the panel--I don't see that in your photo. The red wire with white markings in the foreground is for the rear defogger, I believe, as is the long red/white wire hanging from the hinge. Do a little hunting and see if there is a red wire somewhere in the vicinity of the voltage regulator, at the base of the fuse panel.

Cdi wire
Thanks for the help.
I rummaged around and found the missing wire tucked under the fuse panel, plugged it in and thank god could hear the whine of the Box. Also bought two new globes for the front park lights and now all the indicators work properly. just need to work out why the stop lights are on when the ignition is on. Anyway thanks again. |
