Fuchs that have been tracked? 15x7/8

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know this has been talked about, but I could not find anything on the 15 inch wheels. I found a set of 15 inch Fuchs that have been tracked. I do not think they raced. The owner says "3 season's worth, 8 or so DEs/lapping days per season". Is there any concern about their strength? I know we will never know for sure. I will be tracking them as well. He is asking about $900.

I have the same 15's which I have used for multiple DE days. They are fine and look good. No issue with strength.

JMHO, but given the age of all of these wheels now, the stresses imposed on them by modern DOT-R type tires, and the number of cracked ones that are emerging, I would not buy a set of Fuchs without having them Zyglow'ed for cracks.

Is "Zyglow" the brand name for the "Magnuflux" ferrous metal inspection process but used on Aluminum?

rvanderpyl 03-21-2010 01:55 PM

Zyglow is a florescent dye process used on non magnetic metals as the Magnuflux process won't work

Not to re-open a debate that has already been settled a month or two ago, but Aluminum is, very weakly, magnetic. It can be melted in an induction furnace and will support eddy-currents.
