simple wiring questions

This should be obvious to anyone but me. I am re-assembling everything after removal of the fan, distributor and alternator for powder coating on my 85' 911. Everything seems to be going fine except I have a bundle of brown wires left over. They terminate near the distributor. From the diagrams they appear to be grounds to the fuel injection system. It should be obvious where they go but I lost part of my brain in an internet/real estate scam and seem to be oblivious. Quick help?

Secondly, and probably more difficult, I have a single blue "home made" wire hanging loose. It comes from the back of the blower housing. It appears to be spliced into the wires coming out of the blower. It does not appear to be a factory thing in any way, shape or form. It has a eye type terminal on it and reaches nearly to the distributor. I cant think of any reason my blower should be connected to my ignition system and so I sit and wonder. Got any ideas?

(I did take pix of everything before and during dismantle. My camera and pix were abducted by aliens and destroyed. OK, they are really my kids, but I subsequently have sent them to live on Mars, so now they are aliens.)

I'm in the middle of the same project on my '82. I have a brown ground wire as well, but not the blue.

Hope this photos helps.

Best of luck.

No, your is very different. I have the distributor, alternator and fan installed and wired. My group of brown wires, there are 10 in all, are terminated into 4 groups with eye terminals on them. They run down the drivers side rear fender and end near the distributor. My wiring diagram indicates that they are connected to the fuel injection and ignition system and appear to be ground wires. There should be an obvious bolts/bolts on which they terminate. I dont see anything. I just dont want to ground them and find out the hard way that they were not grounds.

The blue wire is probably going to be a trial and error thing. I suspect it is also a ground and I'll try that first, but I dont think it is required for my car to run. The brown wires look vital.

Steve, those sound like the ground wires that attach to the outside of the #1 intake runner. The blue wire is a mystery.

If you can get your camera back from the aliens, pics might help.

Bingo guys!

That is exactly it. I knew that there was a tapped hole there and it looked like a likely spot but had to make sure.

Thanks a bunch.

I'll get the car running and then go chasing the blue wire.

Did you ever figure out the wiring here? I think the blue wire attaches to the smallest of the posts on the back of the alternator. I'm in the same situation here. Just pulled the alternator (again) and can't remember which wire goes where. I'm pretty sure it's red-large post, 2 browns-medium post, blue-small post.
Bentley book on the way.
