the 76 model uses the type 4 motor, the early 912 uses something similar to the 356 motor.

Granted with a little enginuity I think a type 4 would bolt right up to an early 912. Just sheat metal differences. How did I come to this conclusion? A 912 motor will bolt into a VW bus and so will a type4, therfore they have the same bolt pattern.

Hello

The Bellouse size was similar from the 1935 beetle to the last 993.

Theoretically you can fit the 914 with a beetle engine and vice versa.

912's have the 1600cc flat four from the 356C-very similiar to a VW Type 1 (Bug) engine. 914's and the '76 912E (and VW Type IV's (Things)and Transporters (Busses) use the 2.0 VW/Porsche Type IV flat 4
