engine identification
 
the number on the right side of the engine is 930/03 is this the correct number to determine what engine I have.And if it is what do I have?Thanks in advance........

Yep. That's the right number. That's an ROW '78 911sc engine. serial number should be 638xxxx where "x" denote the sequential production number...

You have 3.0 liters.

3.0 liter SC engine. ROW means non-US spec model.

It's a good basis for building a good performance engine. It's only 180bhp. However they are dead reliable and when cared for have been known to run 1/4 million miles or more without a major overhaul. Yours is an early one with better heads than were on the later ones, if you do want to rebuild it for high performance. Take a look through the engine rebuilding forum if you want to get a better idea of what guys do with these engines from a performance standpoint. You can go mild on them or you can go wild.
