Bumper pad access looks easy, contrary to what I've read...

Looked last night, because today I swap out the left side hump (two inch crack, I didn't do it :D). Looks like all kinds of room back there ('86 car). I've read many reports of "removing muffler", etc.....no way that's necessary. Just older cars or those with certain non-stock mufflers that have such a problem? I just figure some guys out there might want to know this looks way too easy to accomplish; removal, replacement, whatever....with a cold muffler, of course  ...several inches of clearance back there.

I had no issue with access room either. If you were not replacing the driver (LH) side unit, I'd advise hot-wrenching the nuts off. The studs have I propensity to snap.

OR....you could buy my rear bumper that has had the bumperettes removed already and holes filled...

Don, thanks for the offer. However, it's done, "new" one is installed, no problem with the nuts. Only took half a beer. :D Since I'm not at all biased, I can say it looks good. Funny, the replacement came off a same-year car. :) Thanks, Bill....(parted a Prussian blue Targa).
Have a good "rest of" weekend, folks! Lar

If you can post some photos of you doing this, before, during, after etc. I need to do it and it would be a big help.
