1980 Project - A few final issues
It's 1980 911SC, after I finished an engine rebuild following waynes book and much of the info on the form I had the engine up and running and back in the car. Over the last year the car has sat as I waited to receive my Zuffenhaus rims. I have spent much of that time on body work and prepping for paint (still haven't decided what color). Anyways long story short. I'm exhausted trying to get this up and running just right. I've had the engine up and running but always seemed to have problems backfiring under load. Convinced that I have a timing issue I've had the distributor out, cap off multiple times.
Compression test and all were ~ 150 psi, I have spark and I have fuel but I've screwed with this for so long now I can't get the car to start. I've put new wires, distributor cap, and rotor on as well I tried an MSD ignition system to verify that my CDI box was working. I'm just stuck and don't think I'm making any progress. If anyone is in the neighborhood and wants to take a look or has any suggestions. Let me know I'd really appreciate it Thanks, Scott Engine Pic after Rebuilt http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269722368.jpg Car pic before rebuilt http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269722989.jpg |

CIS troubleshooting..........
Quote:
Scott, That's a beautiful engine you got there. I wish you are a couple hundred miles away and I could be there to give you a hand. CIS troubleshooting is not that difficult at all and I find it very enjoyable and sometimes entertaining. Do you have a fuel injection pressure gauge kit? This is a mandatory tool to be able to easily diagnose your injection problem/s plus a vacuum gauge kit. Below is the engine of an out-of-state Pelican member I met here at the forum. The engine was tested and inspected before installing into a roller with complete unknown history. The result was a simple plug and start scenario. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269895352.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269897553.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269897578.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1269897600.jpg I'm no expert but give me a CIS problem and I'll diagnose it for you. PM me and I'll be more than happy to assist you. Being able to help a fellow 911 enthusiast is priceless. Tony |
