F My Life!

Sorry for the title, but I am a little ticked. I was doing a simple rotor and cap replacement and while pulling the rotor the guts of the dizzy came with it ( see Pic), what do I do now?

Clean, lube, and put back in?

I can only find one spring, and if you look, i think one of the spring tabs is broken.

Separate the rotor and look inside the shaft. Under the felt is a screw. Make sure this screw gets put back in place to hold the advance mechanism in place. Then just attach the weights and springs and go for a drive.

If you can't find the pieces or they won't go back together, there was a distributor for sale in the classifieds for $150 a few days ago.
Keep it lubed better next time.

I bought it this way, so I can blame the PO. I used a magnet and found the other spring. This one does not have a screw, it has a small washer and it looks like a split ring, but there is not a grove for the split ring to grab, so it is friction only? Where do you lube these? Remember I am a 911 newb.

search for a thread by 911_S_Man (try variants of that) + distr...

you are lucky!

if you were unlucky it would have blown itself apart on a back road - the motor would be ruined & you would die of thirst/starvation/exposure before anyone else drove on the road...

I guess I am lucky. I cannot find anything by that or any other ID close to it, but I will get it back together and see if it works. The little split ring is not easy to get on. I have tried many methods and nothing seems to work, I will continue to work though.
