I have just replaced the condensor and dryer on my 88 Carrera, since the old condensor had a leak when I tried to have the system charged. Would it be a good idea to also replace the O-rings on the other connections (front condensor, evaporator ...) while I am at it, or should I just leave well enough alone, since they were not leaking at the previous test? I also wonder if, by putting in new O-rings, I might just create a leak where there was none before.
I also put in a new front condensor blower (and fuse harness!), since the old one was missing. I had a hard time getting it in place, because it jammed up against the battery on one side (it is a "long" battery) and the front of the fuel tank at the rear of the blower. I had to bang it in with my fist and screw it down to force it into place. Has anyone else had this problem?

Replace the battery, sounds like you have the wrong size. Mine goes in and out easily, bangin not recommended.

Dont disturb the evaporator just to replace o rings. Don't open any parts of the system just to do "might as wells". You might create leaks. That is the low pressure side of the system anyway.

The battery fits the anchor tabs (a fixed lip in the back, bolt on plate in the front). It may be that the replacement blower is not the same as the original. I found that the replacement condensor was quite different from the original, both in size and the way it bolted to the engine lid. I think this is common. I must have broken four new wind deflector tabs before I realised that I had to excavate a bit with a razor blade to make them fit without breaking.

Yes some batterys are a thight fit and will scratch the fueltank during pulling them out.

The 88 AH or larger needs to remove the condesor blower.


I wouldn´t touch the sealrings as long they are not leaking or you go to R134a upgrade.
The old front condensors are mostly corroded and weaked by vibration. A slight twist can give you the blues.
