Fan housing is cracking on my 82 sc. Since these are so hard to come by, has anyone tryed to repair one ? Welding ? JB weld ? Any ideas ? Relatively new to the board, thanks for any ideas.

I ve used JB weld on a couple if there is spans that wernt cracked. I just figure you get by for a while but keep an eye on it.
Its a 930 part number and its hard to find a housing thats not cracked through Carrera.

Don, there are several threads on this topic. Search under "fan housing welding." Here's my experience.

Don,

The fan housing of my '78Sc had a crack and used JB weld to temporarily fix it. And would replace it after locating a replacement housing. It is almost 15 years since I had the housing JB welded and a complete fan/housing/alternator unit have been in my basement for a while. Depending on the gravity and location of the cracks, JB weld does a pretty good fix. But would never attempt to use JB weld on the propeller.

Thanks for the help. Since I have only one of the 4 vanes with a crack now I think I'll try JB Weld. I appreciate the insight.
