It's true new axles often (allways?) look dirty fresh from the box. That's because they are pre-packed with a considerable volume of grease and it tends to get spread around in transit, despite the caps installed on the CVs.
The OP mentioned they 'barely moved'. They are stiff when new. If they were not stiff, that would be an indication of a used part.
I would look for scrapes or indentations from the bolts being torqued to indicate they had been previously installed. OP didn't indicate such.
Also, axles don't come with gaskets. They need to be ordered seperately.
I didn't see the parts. But the description sounds like these are normal, new axles.
