help exhaust upgrade

i'm going to do an exhaust up grade to headers and a sport muffler. Any ideas or comments on how to get the heat exchangers off.The bolts an allens look very rusty . all comments wanted

The general drill is PB Blaster, heat, more of both and if that fails, cut off the nuts using whatever drill/grinder you can get in there. I think on my 88 I only had to cut off a couple. It it imperative you use caution not to twist off a stud as they are undoubtedly weakened by heat cycling and rust. Yet quite q task to replace. Good luck. Search for stories. Ken

I did this last weekend. In my case, I applied PB blaster every evening for five days in a row. Then I used one of the cheap-o MAPP/Oxygen torch kits that are commonly available. I heated each nut until it was just starting to show a very dull red when I would pull the flame away. I was then able to wrench each nut cleanly off.

However, my car spent its life in kind climates and there was not that much corrosion to begin with - so I felt my odds with heat were good. The other option which seems to work very well is to dremel a slot most of the way through the nut and then use a cold chisel to seperate and turn the nut. I have not done this myself, but everyone that had every wrote about it has had good success it seems.
