Crimped Oil Cooler Line

Hi - This must happen frequently - thought I would ask the forum if there is a way to assess the effect of the damage. On both my '76 911 and my current '88, one of the oil cooler lines that run down the length of the car on the right side get crimped from scraping because the car is so low to the street. (Yeah, I know. I try to be careful, but it happens.)

Anyway, I assume this has to affect the efficiency of the oil cooler up front. Anybody know? Is there a way to remove the crimp short of replacing the line? How crimped can it be before it has a detrimental effect?

Typically they are crimped by misplaced lift positioning. There have been quite a few methods of repair described here before, here are a few:

Compressed air:
oil cooler line - repair fittings
Fixed my Crushed Oil line for $5 and a beer.

Solder: Yet another spliced oil cooler line thread - Save those trombones!

A search will reveal dozens of examples of repair.

If you post pics of the damage, we can help you evaluate repair/replacement.

Some Pics

Following your advice, here are some pics. The damage is at the rear of the rocker panel.

I will look for the utube video in the meantime.

Thanks for the help!
