Targa brace(not strut tower) questions...

Pelican sells these braces that go behind the front seats and to the side, just behind the door jams of a targa. They say it adds stiffnesss, positive steering, and makes the car really quiet. Does anyone have experience with these? Do they live up to the claims? Do they look good and un-obtrusive? I don't track my car, but am a VERY spirited driver looking for a little more stiffness in the chassis.

No specific experience with this item. However, without saying anything derogatory about our sponsors, I don't believe that such an item coudl eliminate chassis flex in a Targa.
Then again, that is one of the trade offs for having the covenience and versatility of a Targa.

Will these stiffening braces work in a Cab in addition to a Targa?
(Since I understand the Cab chassis is basically the same as a Targa chassis w/out the roll bar)

thanks,
Markus

Markus, unfortunately I believe the targa brace bolts to the inside of the targa bar near or at the seat belt strap. I don't think it would work for a cab at all.

R22, would you happen to have a link to the item in the catalog? I'm curious now. Maybe a pic?

I've got one I bought from Dave Turner several years ago. I don't think it provides much chassis support, but it works great for harness supports, what it is designed to do.

It is made of a bar that goes between the seat-belt shoulder bolt points, and a second diagonal bar that goes to from the bar to a rear seat belt bolt point. Very nicely made too.

I not longer own a Targa and would love to get the bar out of my garage.

I have the Targa bars in my car for several months and have noted a profound improvement in the stiffness of the car . It is quieter and handles better.I would put a link to the pelican page but don't know how. It is under Porsche 911-1974-1989 misc targa bars
