One more oil leak solved! (I think...)
I've had oil dripping on heat exchangers for some time now - really annoying and stinky, especially sitting at a traffic light. Remember Pig Pen from peanuts? That's what I felt like :)
Well, one cheap little bugger of a seal, and I think it's solved! I say think because there's still some residual oil on the heat exchangers that has to be burned off, and I haven't had a chance to have a really good, hot rip in the car since replacing the seal on Monday. If you have a similar problem (most noticeable on deceleration because of the weight transfer to the front, which is where it leaks from) then I couldn't recommend this enough - it literally took less than 15 minutes - 2 10mm nuts and a small screwdriver to pry the cap off (careful, it's soft). No mess, no spills. Here's the original thread I posted about finding the right seal. Might only apply to 1972. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/496788-oil-filter-housing-leak-specific-1972-a.html |
