Question Is ethanol laced fuel damaging our motors?

I've recently been reading about problems with engines due to ethanol. Water retention, alcohol melting plastic fuel lines, internal corrosion, etc.

What about the effects on our old air-cooled motors? Is ethanol slowly ruining them?

While hte article is aimed at the marine market, the effectsa re real and need to be addressed in older cars as well.

You can search here to find loads of info on CIS systems and ethanol. Here are a few threads to get you started:

of course i will be labeled as a tin foil hat wearing, nut case, conspiracy theorist, but yes i think so.
the corn lobby is ruining our food supplies, why not our fuel supplies too.
ask sammy what he thinks about this.

I have been running an SC on ethanol laced fuel for 20 years without a problem. Worry about something else, maybe global warming or locust, they are losing patients,

Garage
there is a new Stabil, marine in origin that is better for dealing with ethynol, we use it in bikes all the time, the current fuel can ruin a carb in weeks.

Ethanol is really bad for cars with CIS cause the extra moisture (water) will corrode internal parts ie. plunger unlike the FI that rails and injectors will not rust.
