15 inch G Force Sport available sizes

Need to get new tires for the 73, still a narrow body, will put on SC flares later this sumer and get 7x8x16s, but that may turn into a winter project.

Anyone have experience with the G Force Sports?

Can I put a 225/50 in the back with 7 inch cookie cutters, 205 in the front with 7s as well? That way even with the flares, the car will still look right.

or should I just go with 215/50s and 195/55s on 7x6x15 cookies?

Thoughts?

Not on my 911, but on my modified 1996 Saab 900SE turbo 3-door, I used the 15" G-force sports.

Very nice tires overall. Wore well for a relatively high performance tire, with very good grip and very good "breakaway" characteristics at their limit. Ultimate grip wasn't up there with the softest extreme performance summer tires, and they aren't made for cold weather driving conditions, but they worked very well for that car, even in the wet.

Considering that car was running 15+ psi of boost, with boost that came on rather suddenly between 2800 - 3200 rpm, and defined what was meant by fwd "torque steer", yeah - I think there were good tires.

On a 911? I really don't know if they are the best, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them if you are staying with 15's.

Shaun, I've tried 205/60x15 G Force Sports on 7" Fuchs on two different early cars, a '71 Targa and '73.5 coupe. Both have stock torsion bars, fresh Bilstein and Koni dampers respectivley with ride heights set at 25.5" and 25" front and rear, ride height was from previous tire and wheel set up of 185/70 on sixes and 195/65 on sixes.

The BFG mounted on 7's on both cars rubbed on the right rear, you might be OK with the 225/50 on the rear depending on your ride height and spring rate but that seems like a pretty short (diameter) tire. I prefer close to stock.

I'm am currently running the same BFG's on deep sixes with no issue without change in spring rate or ride height and they don't look chubby like some 205's on sixes.

Thanks guys, that's the info I was looking for. The T is no screamer having a 69T motor with Webers, but tires are so important, want to make the right decision.

David, on the car now are 215/60 rear and 195/65 front A008s on deep 6s. They stick like glue but are pretty ugly with very tall sidewalls. they just don't fit the car, sort of the opposite of 205/50s. The car is at 24.5+ in the rear and 25 in the front and I have no rubbing issues at all and it looks like I could squeeze a 225 under the back. It's got 19/26 bars by the way with sports in the front and HD in the rear.

I'm going to go to my local shop and see what they can do with alignment (why I need new tires) to get the rear 225s to fit.

dw1, two of my favorite cars ever were an 88 900 Turbo and 91 9000 Turbo, which is in my top 3 favorite cars. fast and tons of fun with carrying capacity close to my 4Runner.

thanks guys!

I've been running the G-force sport for about 4000 miles and they are definitely much better than the Dunlops I replaced. As I'm sure you have found out, in the 15" sizes there are very few choices in a performance tire at any price. I've done some modest amounts of AutoX and the performance I would describe as very good. Cheers

I have 205/55-16 g-Force Sport All Seasons (I know, different than the summer only version) on my 6x16 wheels for everyday driving. I did notice that they were "Fatter" than my older Toyo Proxes H-4 205/60-15 tires I used to have. I needed to roll my fenders to get the clearances.

I ended up with a set of NOS, well-preserved S03s. They are like magic. I wonder what we would have to do to get a group buy (with other make/model enthusiasts) of 225/50 SO3s or A008's or other supertires from the past.

The 15" tire selection has gotten so bad...very sad.

Shaun, what about the 215/60 and 195/65s were ugly? This setup looks awesome, as long as you can lower the car without rubbing. The sidewall heights are very true to stock. If, for example, you couldn't lower a narrow bodied car due to rubbing, the I can see where the 'ugly' comment comes from, but otherwise, they look perfect IMHO.

Hey Kenik,

215s squished onto deep 6s: not a good look. I think if they were mounted on 7x15 or even wider to properly spread the tire out on the wheel, they would look much better, and perform better, and be safer.

I have a nice set of A008Ps in 215/60 if you want'em.

Ah, the deep sixes - definitely an issue. Widen thos puppies to 7 and 8 like I did it is magic.

These are Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Positions...not bad:
$315 for a set of 4 and great traction/reviews:

But you already knew that, Shaun.

As far as the A008s go, who knows...shoot me some pics.

Yeah, your wheels are incredible man! If I could I would, but the 6s are from the S, all 5 date-matched and in overall great shape.

Will send some pics of the Yokos. To be honest, they stuck like glue the little I used them, well under 500 miles. While they didn't look good as a package on the car, the sidewall, shoulder, tread were as beautiful (if you can say such a thing) as the chunky SO3s on the cookies.

Those S drives have me sold BTW, I'm going to put a set of 205/55 all around on a second set of cookies I'm picking up on Friday. Going to use them for the drive to Hershey then on to MN and back later this month.

I really like the look of the 215/60 and 205/60 but finding any kind of high performance tire is impossible. I don't care for the look of the 225/50 and 205/50 and I have a set of VictoRacers that size on an extra set of Fuchs 7 & 8 x 15's for track time. Great setup for the track as the gearing is better and grip is fantastic. The 960's look like a good tire and reviews have been great for them.

I have since gone to a 17" setup and couldn't be happier

This is a shot with the 215/205-60 15's
