Angry Help - really stupid engine oil mistake...

Really stupid I know, but I'd been drinking all afternoon at a Christmas function and when I got home i desperately wanted to do something to the 911. So I thought I'd top up the engine oil. I picked up a container of used Swepco SAE 90 201 and had poured about half a pint in while I thought "ummm, pretty blue color", before I realised Castrol GTX isn't meant to be blue. What do I do?

The Swepco is used, I just hadn't got around to taking it to the recycler yet. But I thought the fact that it had been sitting around in the container for a few months (and had only been used for 12 months), any metal fragments would have sunk to the bottom. And, I only poored about half a pint in. Does this matter?

Glad you didn't try to adjust the valves.

Don't sweat it. No problem. The 911's oil capacity is enormous. A pint is insignificant. And besides, its still just oil. Albeit with different additives.

Blue Stuff

As long as you don't mistake it for a Blue Martini I think you'll be allright.

I always thought that Alcohol and DRIVING a car was dumb, but Bill what were you thinking????

But a good story.

Bill I agree with the rest of the guys it should be ok. I would drain the oil and change it before I drove it though. Better safe than sorry.

Hi:

I would change the oil.... if worried about metal being in the oil
put a heavy magnet on the oil filter to attract any fine metal.

Run for 3-400 miles with magnet on the filter--- change the oil
and filter again..... You should be fine.

Bill...you drunken bastarde!
Here it's not even the week before X-mas and you're pissed

Now, for gawds sake man, sober up and drain that oil immediately! Then, pray to your poor car and the Porsche Gods, begging for their forgiveness.
And one other thing...keep the Swepco *away* from the Castrol, ok?
